Choosing a leather gift: five details worth checking

A useful gift starts with the recipient’s routine. The best starting question is simple: what do they carry, and where do they carry it?

1. Their usual day

For someone who moves between meetings, start with work essentials. For lighter outings, think about a phone, wallet, keys and a few small extras. A person who carries specialist equipment needs a confirmed fit for that equipment, rather than a general promise of space.

2. The dimensions that matter

If a laptop or other rigid item is part of the plan, measure the item itself, including its case. Screen size does not tell you the full external dimensions. Compare with the selected bag’s specifications and ask about internal clearance when it is not listed.

3. How they like to carry

Notice whether they usually choose a shoulder bag, crossbody or backpack. Look at the product photographs for the actual handle and strap arrangement. Adjustable and removable straps should only be expected where the listing confirms them.

4. Colour and finish

Think about the colours they already use. Browse all available photographs and select the intended variant carefully. Leather can show natural variation in grain and tone, and screen settings can affect how a colour appears.

5. Personalisation and timing

When engraving is offered, confirm the wording, spelling and placement before ordering. Read the personalisation guide first: engraved items are final sale unless faulty. If you are unsure of the recipient’s preference, an unengraved choice may be easier to decide on.

Allow time for both processing and delivery. Check our shipping and returns information before planning around a particular date. An estimated delivery window is not a guarantee for a special occasion.

A little help choosing

Our gift guide groups ideas by everyday use. You can also contact us with the style you are considering and any measurements you need confirmed. Please do not send the recipient’s private details; a description of their routine is enough.
